You use the two highest bits of $dd00 = (data and clock) for transfer and the routine returns the transfered byte in A. The route is like this; # Zero the register (A can be anything when you enter the loop - all bits= are set). # Shift the contents of the A twice to make room for two incomming bits (= not actually needed the first round but OK ;-) # Set the two bits by EOR:ing them in, directly from the $DD00 register t= o the accumulator. The lower 6 bits are zero so they won't trash the bits alrea= dy rolled into the accumulator. # Do this four times (4 times 2 bits) and you have fetched your byte! I've heard from a couple of people on the IRC (#C-64), that there is a program available for the C=64's and C=128 which has been released by a company in Finland that will allow Commodore 64's and 128's to emulate Netscape grapics, the program is called C=Scape. from what I understand the program retails for $100 U.S., and includes an 8MB memory upgrade. Does anyone know where more information about this program (ordering, product literature) can be obtained ?? if so, please post it here, I know I have the name of the company somewhere, if I find it I will post it here in the form of a reply. It uses an advanced trick to get 16 colors out of a hires VIC screen, and looks really great on my 64. Due to recent drops in RAM and CPU cycle prices they were able to not only drop the price by $50 but double the amount of included memory as well. I don't know where to get it in the US right now -- since I helped to work on it I got my copy for free (I wrote all the 3D and 4D graphics code, and I also rewrote the GIF and JPEG routines in a completely different way to get them to work at full-speed on a stock 64). The company is also coming out with a SuperVGA chipset on a cartridge, and as soon as the licensing agreement is completed with VIScorp there will be an Amiga chipset on a cartridge as well! And I heard CMD will be offering a special package including C=Scape, a SuperCPU, a 28.8 modem+swiftlink, HD200, and 16 megs of RAM for $450! Could the C64 be the "internet in a box" solution the other companies have been clamoring for? With the recent iniatives to connect schools to the internet, we may be looking at once again the re-introduction and subsequent domination of the C-64! evetS- #! rnews 1113 Path: pravda.aa.msen.com!news1.best.com!news.texas.net!news.kei.com!news.= mathworks.com!news-res.gsl.net!news.gsl.net!portc01.blue.aol.com!newstf01= .news.aol.com!newsbf02.news.aol.com!not-for-mail From: elphantas@aol.com (El Phantas) Newsgroups: comp.sys.cbm Subject: Taming my mouse in GEOS Date: 10 Jul 1996 11:07:53 -0400 Organization: America Online, Inc. The reason for this is because INPUT# has a lot of other problems with it: a) can't check ST in the middle of a line (and thus, when it reads past EOF, the computer hangs until you hit RUN-STOP/RESTORE) b) limited to 88 characters due to the size of the C64 input buffer c) no commas or leading spaces allowed INPUT# really should only be used when you know *precisely* the data you're trying to read with it. If there's any uncertainty about the format of the data, be safe and use other means. Personally, I'd avoid it. Cameron (Doom64 ho!) Also, I don't know if the supply for the 1541-II would be adequate, since I believe it has fewer chips than the 1541. The main thing is that if you do try the connection, BE SURE to disconnect the old= PS internal to the 1541 before hooking up the new one.
